Victor Emanuel II lived from 1820-1878. He was the first king of United Italy and the last king or Piedmont-Sardinia. Victor came after his father Charles Albert in March 24, 1849. After gaining his throne his goal was to make peace with Austria. He did so on August 6,1849. Then in 1861 he announced that there is now a Untied Italy and that is when his reign of Piedmont-Sardinia ended. He then Became the first King of Italy and instead of changing his title to Victor Emanuel I of Italy he kept his old title and became Victor Emmanuel II of Italy. This angered some people. He then died 1878.
